Common questions
Will new windows really lower my energy bill?
They will help, but rarely as much as window advertising implies. Replacing single-pane or failed-seal windows produces a noticeable difference. Replacing functional double-pane windows produces a small one. If a salesperson quotes you a specific percentage off your bill without seeing your utility history, treat that as a warning sign.
How much do replacement windows cost?
Cost per opening varies widely by size, frame material, glass package, and whether the install is insert or full-frame. Vinyl inserts sit at the low end and fiberglass or wood-clad full-frame units at the high end. A whole-home project is typically a mid five-figure decision, which is exactly why the payback conversation should be honest.
What does a failed seal look like?
Fog, haze, or visible moisture between the panes that you cannot wipe off from either side. That means the insulated glass unit has lost its seal and its insulating value. Sometimes the glass unit alone can be replaced rather than the whole window.
Do you handle the trim and finish work?
Yes. Interior and exterior trim, caulking, and finish are part of the scope. A window job that leaves you to figure out the trim is not a finished window job.
