How long should an exterior paint job last in Colorado?

Do you have to pressure wash first?
The surface must be clean, and on most exteriors washing is how you get there. Pressure is not always the right tool though. Old siding, soft wood, and stucco often need a soft wash at low pressure, because forcing water behind the cladding causes a much worse problem than dirty paint.
Can you paint in the winter here?
Exterior painting needs surface and air temperatures above the product minimum, usually 35 to 50 degrees depending on the coating, and falling temperatures overnight matter as much as the daytime high.
